Meet the Team
Brian Coulson (Senior Caseworker - Housing)
Brian is our principal housing lawyer. Brian specialised in housing law issues and has built on an extensive base of social welfare law and practical knowledge of housing allocation and homelessness issues and has regularly provided representation for clients of the Law Centre at Court. Brian is also an experienced American Football coach.
Danielle Carlisle (Help Desk Reception / Administration)
Danielle originally joined us through the Future Jobs Fund and is now employed full time. Danielle works alongside volunteers to ensure that the Help Desk service as the 1st point of contact at the Law Centre is available and welcoming Monday to Friday to people calling by telephone or in person. In her help desk role Danielle is responsible for helping people find legal advice elsewhere if this can't be provided through the Law Centre itself.
Daxa Shah (Immigration and Asylum Casework Support Worker)
Daxa is a level 1 accredited caseworker and supports the casework team by being available to all of our immigration and asylum clients as a 1st point of contact and to increase the time available to the casework team to spend with particularly vulnerable clients and to ensure that those clients are able to talk to somebody who understands the legal issues on their file and the strain that they are under.
Joanne Sachdev (Senior Caseworker - Asylum and Immigration)
Joanne is our principal immigration lawyer. Joanne is a qualified Solicitor as well as being an IAAS accredited Level 2 Senior Caseworker and Supervisor. Joanne qualified as a Solicitor in 2002 and since that time has specialised in immigration and asylum work both Law Centres and in private practise with particular emphasis on cases involving domestic violence and claims for judicial review. Joanne lists her interests as "football and shoes".
Joanne Tucci (JT) (Legal Secretary)
JT has extensive experience as a legal secretary and speedily types up the dictation generated throughout the office whilst taking care of vital administration to free up the caseworkers to concentrate on their casework.
Kevin Miles (Managing Solicitor)
Kevin is a qualified solicitor and splits his time between housing law casework and managing the Law Centre. Like Brian, Kevin also represents clients of the Law Centre at the County Court.
Rachel Evans (Asylum / Immigration caseworker)
Rachel is an IAAS accredited Level 2 Senior Caseworker and Supervisor and has joined us from Immigration Advisory Service. Rachel covers the full range of Asylum and Immigration work.
Wendy McManus (Asylum / Immigration caseworker)
Wendy is an IAAS accredited Level 2 Senior Caseworker and Supervisor. The majority of Wendy’s work is on asylum appeals and she is particularly experienced in representing children who are seeking asylum and who are without their parents.
