  • 3Management Committee Member

Our Management Committee guides the work and development of the Law Centre.  It currently includes representatives from voluntary sector advice and support agencies as well as individual lawyers with an interest in social justice issues. 

Our Management Committee needs to include a broad range of skills and experience however the following are of particular interest:

  • Accountancy / Finance skills

  • Experience of Management of small not-for-profit organisations and charities

  • Knowledge of current social / legal Policy Issues

  • Skills / experience in charity fund raising

The Management Committee is elected by the membership from our membership at the Law Centre’s Annual General Meeting.  Between elections at the AGM the existing Management Committee can co-opt additional Committee Members to add to the skills and experience within the Committee.

The Committee meets 6 times a year.

Committee Members are directors of Bury Law Centre as a company, limited by guarantee and are trustees of Bury Law Centre as a Registered Charity.

The Law Centre is regulated by the Law Centres Federation.  The solicitors employed by it are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.  We are also regulated by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner in the provision of legal advice regarding immigration and asylum law.
